We are very flexible. If you give us an approximate time of arrival/departure ahead of time, we will either be there for you or make arrangements for someone else to take care of you.
It usually takes 30 minutes by car—but in the rush hour it may take 10-15 minutes longer.
On the weekend it is easier and there are parking buildings but they can be expensive.
The Hilltop Hideaway is only a few minutes walk from the Paekakariki Railway Station and the buses from Wanganui/Napier/Taupo stop nearby; however you must tell the bus company when you are making the booking. It is a “requested” stop.
They leave every half hour and run until late at night. People often leave their car here and go to the city by train.
Yes there are many activities and things to do and see in both wet and fine weather. We are able to give good advice about the local attractions. The hideaway is a good base for exploring Wellington—whose attractions can be found at www.wellingtonnz.com
Yes! We ring the boatman and can usually get permits and one or two people on the Island at short notice.
Yes. The ensuite rooms are locked (by you).
There is free parking on the street, (along with our car) and then you must climb 35 steps—or walk up the path to the hideaway on the top of the hill. But the VIEW is worth it!
